How are you dealing with Challenges?
Life in small business is tough and many of us that started our own businesses thought that it had to be better than working for somebody else. How many of you still believe it?
One of my favourite sayings is ‘If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you’. Remember this when you’re saying no, or working that extra bit harder to meet your sales targets, or tempted to hit snooze when you are too tired to start the day!
Being in business requires discipline to achieve what you set out to do. The everyday activity around marketing, sales and staff management that has to be done to keep the business moving in the right direction. There are many books out there like the “Seven Habits of Highly Successful People” by Stephen R Covey because most of success is just hanging in there doing the everyday things when others don’t!
Do the things you hate first or, better yet, outsource them. In this way you do not waste energy on dreading what still needs to be done.
Be sure to reward yourself for even the smallest of wins (like getting out of bed). Have a plan and work it. Then when you are reviewing your plan you will see how far you have come and what you have achieved that may not have even been on your radar.
Each day you will build your resilience, learn and grow. Know that you are not the first person to walk this path and that if you need inspiration or motivation there are plenty of TED talks to help.
